Greg Lance was convicted in a 1998 double homicide that took place in Cookeville, Tennessee. With no physical or DNA evidence, the State of Tennessee convicted an innocent man of murder taking him away from his pregnant wife. Twenty years later, he has never seen his daughter outside of prison walls. Although Greg has remained consistent in claiming his innocence, he has been denied relief at every stage of the legal process.
Recently, Greg's story has been recognized by Sundance's It Couldn't Happen Here, hosted by Hilarie Burton. In Season 1, Episode 4, Hilarie covers Greg's story and talks to his family about their decades long fight. In Season 2, Hilarie and her team returned for some updates on Greg's case. Season 3 is set to air on Thursday, April 18, 2024.
"Our case in Tennessee from last year, Greg Lance, an innocent man in prison for a double homicide he didn't commit -- since the airing of our episode, two new people have come forward and signed affidavits saying, 'He didn't do it.'"
